Pinguicula primuliflora is native to southeast North America, and makes a great first butterwort. When well cared for, it produces plantlets at the ends of its leaves, and sends up purple flowers with yellow throats. Hooray!
Care Instructions
Light: Bright light in a southern facing window, LED grow lights, or outside in part-shade in hardiness zones 9 and above.
Water: Leave plant sitting in at least 1 inch of distilled or low mineral water during all seasons.
Soil: A 50/50 mix of perlite and coco coir or long-fibered sphagnum moss
Temperature: 40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit
Feeding: Finely crushed insects or fish food every 3-4 weeks.
Dormancy: None. Leaves may die back during cold weather. Will not survive extended freezing temperatures.
This plant ships bare root.
